Original Report: A major water main break could result in part of a busy route being closed for an entire day in Westchester as well as the loss of water for nearby residents.

The water main break was discovered on Monday night, Aug. 21 in Hartsdale on West Hartsdale Avenue (Route 100A) near the hamlet's fire station, Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner announced.

Although work on the repairs continued throughout the night into Tuesday morning, Aug. 22, Feiner announced around 7:30 a.m. that the repairs could result in the road being closed for most of the day on Tuesday.

"We are actively working on repairing the major water main break," Feiner added.

Feiner also warned that because of the loss of water that happened overnight, residents in the area may experience a temporary loss of water as the tank refills. This could take several hours to resolve itself, he continued.

"We will keep you updated and apologize for any inconvenience," Feiner said.
